World Recognition

Quality of hospital service Indonesian currency has gained world is now following the entry of the Jakarta Eye Center (JEC) as an official member of World Association of Eye Hospitals (WAEH). This recognition puts JEC as the first eye hospital to represent Indonesia in the 11-member association of eye hospitals from all over the world.

As revealed in a press release to Kompas.com, Tuesday (30/3/2010), the inauguration as a member WAEH JEC held in conjunction with WAEH delegation visit to Jakarta at the beginning of this March. The arrival of the delegation WAEH is a series of annual meetings held in two cities in two countries, namely Melbourne and Jakarta.


WAEH annual meeting in 2010 took the topic "Challenges of Innovation in Eye Care" in which there are 3 focus on innovations in question, namely: health care innovation, knowledge and organization.

During one week in two countries, hospitals, eye hospitals WAEH members exchanged ideas about best practices in their respective hospitals with the aim of inspiring each other to improve service to patients.

Mr. Kees Sol as a commissioner of WAEH asserted, "WAEH Organization formed to help the world health organization, WHO, which aims to reduce the amount of blindness in the world amounted to 50 percent in 2020. With the collaboration between members WAEH expected eradication of blindness in the world can be more precisely targeted, effective and efficient. "

Indonesia proudest thing is when WAEH give recognition that innovation in health services in the Jakarta Eye Center should be a pilot project to other eye hospitals in the world.

Innovation is the patient education room or commonly called the Patient Education Center, where audio and video facilities are also available for patients who want to get more information about the disease and actions to be lived. Patient Education Center This idea was developed into the concept of Internal Customer Discussion ICD or, where the waiting time of patients in the waiting room is filled with interactive lighting by experienced staff.

Do not stop there, Patient Education Center was now accessible through an online chat facility with experienced staff and a physician at certain hours of the topics already scheduled.

Visiting members WAEH this time at the ASEAN meeting in Jakarta are also accompanied Association of Eye Hospitals (AAEH) that all its members are members WAEH. One of the most important decisions made in this meeting is that the regional associations such as the hospital was supposed to be in AAEH auspices of a global organization that is WAEH.

Jakarta Eye Center formally appointed as a member WAEH also witnessed by the chairman PERDAMI Jaya (Indonesian Ophthalmologist Association) Dr.Tjahjono D. Gondhowiardjo, SPM, PhD. WAEH event in Jakarta was also attended by the delegation of-hospital eye hospital in Indonesia, such as RS Aini Hospital, Cicendo, Solo Eye Center, JEC Banjarmasin Sari Mulia Hospital and Eye Hospital, Dr. Yap.

WAEH is a network that connects hospitals, eye hospitals in the world. All members of WAEH is "Center of Excellence" or Superior Eye Hospital in the world of eye health services. Currently WAEH already has some of whom remain members of The Rotterdam Eye Hospital in St. Louis. Erik's Eye Hospital, Stockholm, Bangkok Rutnin Eye Hospital, Moorfields Eye Hospital (London), Singapore National Eye Center, The Department of Ophthalmology of the University Hospital of Leuven (Belgium), Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital (Melbourne). Some of them are new members of the Jakarta Eye Center, RVEEH (Dublin), Himalaya Eye Center and Eye Center Mechi (Nepal).
